Meet Dr. Ariel Cerenzie
Dr. Ariel Cerenzie is a West Texas native who fell in love with North Carolina and decided to make it home. Dr. Cerenzie received her Bachelor of Science at Texas A&M University and her Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree at the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she graduated magna cum laude.
Dr. Cerenzie found her passion for helping individuals with specialty contact lenses after she was diagnosed with keratoconus. She was categorized as a “tough patient” throughout late-childhood with ever-changing prescriptions and “hard-to-fit” eyes.
Dr. Cerenzie’s dedication to specialized eye care was further developed during her cornea and contact lens residency at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Here, she focused on providing advanced contact lens care for a diverse range of patients, including those with pre- and post-surgical needs, post-trauma conditions, and various corneal diseases. Additionally, during her residency, she focused on expanding her expertise in myopia management care.
To deepen her expertise, Dr. Cerenzie achieved fellowships in the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and the Scleral Lens Education Society (FSLS). The FSLS fellowship is a distinction which is bestowed on advanced level practitioners within the specialty contact lens industry. There are currently less than 300 people in the world with this honor.
Dr. Cerenzie is also an active member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control and the National Keratoconus Foundation. Recognized for her knowledge and experience, Dr. Cerenzie is a sought-after speaker and contributor, frequently publishing and lecturing on myopia management and specialty contact lenses to her peers nationwide. She speaks nationally on these topics and has many industry certifications and awards, such as being named as one of the top 200 Optometrists in North America.
Dr. Cerenzie and her husband have two young daughters. They also have two dogs, Otis the Lab, and Remi the (crazy) Weimaraner. In her free time Dr. Cerenzie enjoys mountain biking, hiking, fitness, and water sports. Dr. Cerenzie also enjoys live music of all types, including EDM, rock, and country. One fun fact is that Dr. Cerenzie was on the water ski team at Texas A&M and she looks forward to her daughters trying to water ski soon!!
