For patients who require specialty contact lenses, scleral contact lenses are typically recommended. EyePrintPRO offers the highest level of customization and performance out of any scleral contact lens that is available. Although they are the ultimate in performance, EyePrintPRO is not always necessary and many times there are other options available to patients. During the initial comprehensive exam, the doctor will utilize advanced technology and her in-depth experience in order to advise whether EyePrintPRO is a “need to have” or a “nice to have.”

Conventional scleral contact lenses are manufactured using standardized rotational or toric curves based on trial fitting diagnostic sets. While effective for standard irregularities, they cannot account for localized elevation spikes, severe asymmetry, pingueculae, or post-surgical scars. EyePrintPRO creates an exact physical impression of your ocular topography, replicating the distinct contours of both cornea and sclera down to 2 microns with complete geometric freedom.
How is the ocular impression taken, and does the process hurt?
The impression process takes just two minutes per eye and is completely gentle and painless. A soft, biocompatible compound is applied over the eye with a dedicated impression tray. Patients consistently describe the experience as a refreshing, cool sensation. After setting in roughly 60 to 90 seconds, the mold is gently lifted away and scanned with 3D optical elevation scanners to generate your custom lens.
Can EyePrintPRO be fitted over glaucoma drainage devices or filtering blebs?
Yes.
