Dr-Cipperly

Dr. Heather Cipperly is originally from Colorado, where her love of hiking and skiing sparked a lifelong appreciation for health, wellness, and the beauty of the world around her. That same passion led her to earn a degree in Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State University. While there, she was actively involved in the Pre-Optometry Club and her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta—experiences that helped shape her commitment to leadership, service, and caring for others.

Her interest in optometry began with a personal experience—sparked by her grandmother’s battle with a degenerative eye condition. Witnessing how vision loss can limit one’s ability to enjoy everyday moments and maintain independence inspired Dr. Cipperly to pursue a path where she could help others protect and restore their vision—and in turn, their quality of life.

Dr. Cipperly earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University, and then went on to complete a residency in primary care with an emphasis in cornea and contact lenses at Nova Southeastern University. Her training provided advanced experience in managing complex eye conditions and fitting specialty contact lenses—allowing her to deepen her clinical knowledge and strengthen her passion for improving vision and quality of life through personalized care.

During this time, Dr. Cipperly developed a strong interest in fitting specialty contact lenses for both regular and irregular corneas, including scleral lenses for patients with conditions like keratoconus and post-surgical corneas. She also gained valuable experience in managing dry eye, slowing myopia progression, and enhancing appearance and comfort through prosthetic lenses. No matter the diagnosis, she is dedicated to creating personalized treatment plans that blend the latest technology with a caring, compassionate approach.

Dr. Cipperly has previously presented her clinical insights and research on specialty contact lens management as well as the management of various complex anterior and posterior segment conditions. Recently she has presented at the American Academy of Optometry, the Global Specialty Lens Symposium, and the Southeastern Educational Congress of Optometry. These opportunities have kept her at the forefront of eye care innovation—knowledge she eagerly brings to her patients every day.

Dr. Cipperly has recently moved to Charlotte, and she is excited to begin her next chapter at the Charlotte Contact Lens Institute, where she looks forward to advancing her skills in anterior segment care and bringing the latest innovations to her patients.
